About Us

We are a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, researchers and technical staff based at the National Centre for Antimicrobial Stewardship (NCAS) at the Peter Doherty Institute in Melbourne. Since 2013 the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Heath Care and the Australian Govenment Department of Health have provided a funding contribution for the development of the NAPS program for the AURA Surveillance System. Our aim is to provide antimicrobial stewardship strategies across a range of settings including tertiary hospitals, regional and remote health care, aged care, general practice, and the animal sector. Work done by the NCAS will significantly inform policy and practice around antimicrobial prescribing in both humans and animals in Australia.
